In the market of controllers for consumer SSD one more player has appeared. During the Computex 2016 exhibition the Maxiotek company has presented the first controllers for consumer SATA stores. The Maxiotek MK8113 model is aimed at SSD with DRAM, and the MK8115 version will be used in stores of initial level without DRAM chips. By the way, we already saw one of such novelties — SSD SU700 at the ADATA stand.
MK8113 supports work with 2D - and 3D - MLC NAND chips, 2D SLC of NAND, and can be used for design of stores with a capacity up to 2 Tbyte. MK8115 differs in support 3D TLC of NAND, 2D SLC, 2D and 3D MLC with a general capacity up to 1 Tbyte.
Both controllers at the hardware level provide enciphering according to the AES-256, SM4, SED, TCG-OPAL standards. Among exclusive "counters" developers note the AgileECC technologies (an effective method of correction of mistakes), WriteBooster (assembly of garbage and TRIM), Frequency Throttling (management of food), VPR (for ensuring integrity of data).
It is only possible to greet arrival of Maxiotek to this segment. Perhaps, soon we will see more even more available SSD with attractive functions.
